Case Study

Sammy C/O Surendar
Sammy is 10 years old boy. He is studying in Buradi Government School. He is living with his parents. He is the only one son of his parents. His two elder sisters was died namely Khushboo on 12th April 2010 due to kidney failure, AIDS and pneumonia and Laxmi was died on 4th August 2009  due to AIDS and pneumonia. His parents were a farmer.
His father migrated from Begu sarai, Bihar to Delhi since 2000. He has been living their life in different place of Delhi. He had started to stay in Jahangirpuri for three years and sell the ice cream. After that six year passed in Saba dairy and done the same work. Now they are living in Buradi. Now he is working as a daily wages laborer. 
On 4th August 2009 he was suffering with fever, loose motion, weakness so he went to Kalwati hospital for treatment. After that entire families came to know that they are having HIV infection. During the treatment he found that he has HIV infection. At the same time his ART has started.
Sammy is taking the ART medicine from Ambedkar hospital, Rohini since 29th October 2009. His CD4count has been increased. His last CD4 count was 750 on dated 12th August 2011 and present CD4 count is 648. Proper care is being taken by his parents. His parents give their best to Sammy and concern on his regular follow up, ART adherence, health and hygiene, providing proper nutrition, proper parenting etc. He is taking the nutritional supplement regularly as milk powder, sathu and maintaining neat and clean.
His mother is a house wife. Sixteen years ago his parents has done the marriage. His mother has also having HIV infection. His mother also has taken the ART medicine.
His parents could not afford to provide basic needs of the family due to low income. They spend for paying house rent, water and electricity bill etc.
Sammy has passed 5th class and promoted to 6th class. He is studying in MCD School, Buradi. He likes to play cricket and likes to eat Rajma rice. He wants to become a Doctor.
